“So love me please” she said
With sweet soft eyes
And a tilt of her head;
With soft still lips
That held my heart in a grip
As she stood in the shade
We met in a gaze
But I laughed to myself
That it wasn’t so
But still I wished
For her lips;
Then in that gaze
Our eyes gently kissed
and I drew near.
I touched her hand
Saw her cheek soft and smooth with deep brown eyes
All filled with tears
And it seemed all beauty
Flowed from her face.
But then I turned with sudden fears
And left before she saw my tears.
